I have been a Godaddy customer for the last three years and if you know how to configure your own site it works out really great.

I also have started digging into all of their DNS configurations that you get with purchasing a hosting plan.  They give you the ability to add A records that point to any IP address.  This allowed me to setup dns entries pointing to my home.  Here is a tutorial on how to create a A record in godaddy's DNS manager.

1.  If you have a GoDaddy account login.

2.  Go to "Hosting & Servers" then select "My Hosting Account".

3. To open your hosting account control panel select "Manage Account".

4. Go to settings and select "DNS Manager".

5. In the "A (Host)" area you can add additional DNS entries to other servers or areas on the internet. This can be helpful to create sub-domains that point to different servers you might have at your house or other locations.

6. Click "Add New A Record" to create a new address record. Type in a Host Name: subdomain.domain.com and your server IP address that you get from your dsl/cable modem. After you click OK you can wait an hour or so to let DNS replicate to the other DNS servers and you should now have a internet address pointing to your home server.

7. To really make these settings work you have to also do port forwarding on your home router for the ports and the computer at home that you need. If you don't understand this read the manual that comes with your home router on how to configure port forwarding.

8. Another important thing is to make sure that your firewall is turned on the system you will be forwarding to. You should also open whatever port is needed for the service that you want to use. If you want to use Remote Desktop it would be port 3389.

9. If you have everything setup correctly you should be able to run remote desktop from any computer in the world and use your new DNS entry to access your home computer. I.E. subdomain.domain.com.
